What is CBD – How it is useful for pain relief?

The Cannabidiol , also known as CBD is one of the two most important cannabinoid components of the cannabis plant, which is in variable proportions depending on the strain. While in some plants it is minimal, in others it can be the most abundant, or it can be found in proportions more or less equal to THC.

Currently, CBD is the cannabinoid with the most beneficial effects for the treatment of some symptoms and diseases, and with the greatest therapeutic margin; that is, with mild side effects over a wide range of doses. In general, CBD is very well tolerated into the world of hemp.

Therapeutic properties of CBD

The most important therapeutic properties of CBD, demonstrated with different quality of evidence, are:

CBD for pain relief!!!

Check the label of any pain reliever on sale and you can easily calculate how much to take. However, finding the correct dose of cannabidiol (CBD) for pain relief is not that simple.

Enthusiasts swear by the properties of CBD to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, relieve anxiety, and promote sleep. However, there is no conclusive research on how much CBD a person needs to take in order to feel the benefits.

The reason for this is that there are very few human studies on CBD, and those that have been done include doses that are not very specific: In some studies, patients used 5 mg of CBD; in others, they took up to 600 mg. To further add to the confusion, CBD comes in a number of forms – oils, creams and lotions, pills, vapors, and edibles – and each has differences in terms of bioavailability (the percentage of active ingredient that enters the bloodstream).

Here are some tips to guide you on how to find the correct dose of CBD for your relief from pain and other symptoms.

  • Work with an expert

Many factors, such as your body mass index (BMI), your specific health conditions, the medications you take, your medical history, and the form of CBD you plan to use can influence the amount of CBD you need to treat your symptoms. Although CBD is different from medical marijuana, a doctor who knows about cannabis (marijuana) is probably the best person to help you solve your problem.

  • Do a little math

Let’s say you and your doctor agree on a dose of 30 mg of CBD per day. And now that? The answer depends on the form of CBD you take.

Calculating how much CBD is in capsules or gummies is simple – just read the supplement facts section on the label. (If it says 10 mg of CBD per capsule, you will need to take three capsules to get your 30 mg of CBD per day.)

Oils can be more difficult because the packaging often indicates the amount of CBD in the entire bottle, not in a dropper, but it usually comes with instructions for how many mg are in each drop.

  • Anticipate doing several tests

Effect or response of CBD on two patients is not the same. You and your doctor will probably need to adjust the dose either more or less until you achieve the right balance of benefits and  without side effects. “A lot depends on your biochemistry and the way your liver processes these chemicals. There are a wide variety of factors that come into play, ”says Dr. Patel.

  • If you have side effects, stop or reduce the dose

CBD won’t give you the same effects as cannabis with THC, but it can still cause side effects. “The most common side effects are fatigue, and in rare cases diarrhea,” says Dr. Patel, who notes that CBD taken topically causes side effects less often. “Topical CBD is best used to treat pain in a single joint, rather than general pain.”

No matter what form of CBD you use, pay attention to how you feel. If you notice any negative side effects, stop or reduce the dose and consult your doctor.
