What are the Occupations in Demand in Ontario

Ontario is a very good province when it comes to immigration opportunities for both professional and personal growth. It is home to Toronto, which is one of the most prolific cities of Canada has opportunities for almost every profession, but some of the high-demand professions of this region are IT professionals, lawyers, accountants, and software engineers. Ontario as a region places huge importance on the occupation in-demand in its province; thus, the candidate should pay attention to the occupation being in line with the in-demand profession before immigration to Ontario.


Subcategories of Ontario Immigration Nominee Program –

There are different subcategories through which the candidate can apply for the Ontario Nomination, and based on the credentials; the candidate is free to choose any of the below-mentioned categories for selection. 

  • Ontario Express Entry
  • Human Capital priorities stream
  • French-Speaking skilled workers Stream
  • General category – Employer
  • Foreign workers with a job offer stream
  • International student category
  • International student with a job offer stream
  • International student with the Master’s Graduate stream
  • International student with a Ph.D. Graduate stream
  • Business category
  • Entrepreneur stream
  • Corporate stream


The eligibility requirement for the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP)

Only those people can apply for the Ontario Province Nomination who meets the eligibility requirement. The candidate should meet the minimum score requirement for the province if one is applying through the Express entry linked pathway of selection.  Also, the occupation of the candidate should be from the occupation in-demand list of the Ontario province

Keeping that in mind that we look at the eligibility requirements – 

  • The candidate should have a job offer in a full-time permanent job in any of the skilled occupations in NOC skill type o, A or B
  • The minimum educational requirements as per your job type.
  • Have adequate work experience in the applied post
  • The applicant should have minimum language proficiency
  • The candidate should be of relevant age
  • The candidate should show the intention of living and work in Ontario
  • The candidate should have achieved the minimum point score as “determined by the director.”

The National Occupation List (NOC) for Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) 2021


The National Occupation List has three skill types O, A, and B. The division of the jobs in these categories entail.

Skill Type 0 – Management jobs

Skill Type A- Professional Jobs

Skill Type B –  Technical and skilled trades jobs with a diploma
