Before the rain starts pouring at the end of this season, the temperatures tend to rise. The fruiting of trees happens during this season implying that orangutans show up to eat. March To October

This is the period that’s referred to as Borneo’s ‘dry’ season even though there’s a possibility of rain falling in the rainforest at any time. It’s usually humid and hot in Borneo. The season between May and September is when tourism peaks. During these peak seasons, you need to make hotel bookings in advance. This is more so in the rainforest areas like Danum Valley. It’s highly recommended for you to make early bookings since there aren’t many lodges in such areas. For you to see orangutans, this is the best period. Trees usually fruit during the summer months. There is a common perception that these months form Borneo’s wet season. Still, you can travel to the third-largest island in the world during this season. Don’t let the ‘wet’ season forecasts deter you since rainfall can still fall during any time of the year. Fewer crowds can be witnessed in lodges, dive sites, parks and attractions during this time. You can also enjoy cheap accommodation and flight tickets as you plan your trip.
