Multiple Myeloma affecting body’s one and only network system

Blood Network

Blood happens to provide the most important network in our body. It connects each and every portion of our body. It is fluid in nature that travels throughout every corner of our body delivering necessary substances that is required for normal body function in our body. It mainly transfers nutrients and most importantly oxygen to the organ. The hemoglobin of the Red Blood Cells also called as RBC, present in the blood carries the iron as well as oxygen. ‘Heme’ part is the one that carries the iron, whereas oxygen is carried by the ‘Globin’ part. However, it’s not that blood only contains these RBC’s. The blood moving in our body is divided into the Cellular part and the Plasma part. The cellular part contains Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Platelets, etc. that remains suspended in the plasma part. Plasma is the yellowish straw colored fluid component that constitutes the maximum portion of the blood and about 55% of the total body volume.

Multiple Myeloma

A disease called multiple myeloma, also called Kahler’s Disease, in the cancer of the blood plasma. Cancer is essentially a genetic disorder that happens generally due to mutation of cancer-specific genes present in our body. It is mostly hereditary, however, can also develop on as the person grows with life, due to instantaneous mutation. And one of the most important criteria for this disease is its mobile nature. There is a phenomenon called as Metastasis, that rubs with cancer. It is the nothing but the aggregation of cancer cells on a position different to that of its source. Thus making the body more vulnerable. Plasma cells are an integral part of the immune system. They are responsible for the production of antibodies that are required for body’s defense mechanism. These antibodies are also called as immunoglobulins. Myeloma or multiple myeloma is a condition that offers uncontrolled multiplication of plasma cells, therefore releasing only one type of antibody, called as paraprotein. These paraproteins have no such function, therefore are the detection of myeloma becomes relatively easier due to its presence in the blood. Myeloma contains no tumor or lump, but the only abnormal build-up of plasma cells present in the bone marrow, to release paraprotein.
